USU Experiments with Growing Roadside Biofuel Crops - KSTU
USU Experiments with Growing Roadside Biofuel Crops - KSTU: "Utah State University is experimenting with biofuels and the type of crops that produce them. Graduate student Dallas Hanks wants to grow Safflower and other oil seed crops on the sides of freeways. A section of land in Kaysville is a simulation of such a road side plot. Researchers are testing four methods of airation and fertilization to see which is most cost effective and what grows the most fuel. The food versus fuel debate of using traditional agriculture land to produce vehicle fuel sparked the idea."
